DATA FILE MUSIC is record label and a production company for music and everything that is connected to it. The name was
choosen with a tip of irony because of the route music was taking when the company was established in 1995. With the inception
of the compact disc in 1982 and digital recording two years earlier, apart from improving the sound quality of recorded music,
it was the first approach of putting music into computer files. So, after texts and graphics, music became the third artform
of being digitized with all its advantages and aftermaths. Even though the full perspective of sound quality was achieved a
mere 20 years later with the introduction of the far better (and »human-sized«) resolution of 24-bit formats, the eighties
saw a solid turn from the high-quality vinyl records to the inferior digital format of 16-bit Compact Disc. By the time the
label was established, the world had already embraced the digital universe and the decline of record sales began as people started
to make copies at home with the introductions of diverse burning rom features. The philosophy of DFM is fully embraced
by reading its name backward so that everything finally is read as man-made music, regardless of the format it is stored in.
The label's name gives no direct clue to its musical favours. So, there is no need for electronics folks!
