Orginally the label was founded in order to release Room 101's first ep »Fragment.« The object was to give the whole record a professional outlook and as the band was quite reluctant to give control away to other companies, producer Mirco Dalos went ahead and simply created the label DIY. The success of the ep granted the label a continous living and with the productive and successful following year 1996, the label established itself as modern, yet small outlet for interesting musical styles and artists as diverse as the tastes of Dalos himself. Besides releasing material produced by Room 101 and his solo project кожа (Koža), he was also looking for bands, artists and music of the local and international area that interested him and sought for an outlet to release their product. So, over the following decade singles, mini-albums and full-length records appeared by alternative artists »Area 51«, »Tonsucht«, »Seasons of Time« and more which can all be found in our rich ARCHIVE and AURALS & VISUALS Sections. The Label always took great care of keeping an eye on everything it produced and released; be it graphically or musically.

In the year 2002, after the final release of Tonsucht's »01« EP the label went to sleep for three years to find a new fresh breath on music and sound. As the world really changed to music as (sound)files and declining product sales, Data File set out to digitize and store all the mateiral created in the years between 1995 and 2002. Besides that Dalos took a well-deserved break and started looking for new bands and ideas to restart the label with bands/artists that would provide a longlivety. In 2004 he found the Band »Die Fies'N Fries'N« with who he started production the same year. The ingenius mix of Reagge, Dub and elements of English Bluesrock intrigued enough to be finally materialise on a full-length album. Finally in November 2006 after the band renamed to the more apt name »FREEZ'N« the first album set out to find its audience. In deed »FREEZ'N« pumped fresh blood through the veins of the label.

Just shortly before production on the ambitious FREEZ'ONE album has ended, Jörg & Mirco reunited for a new start on an ambitious »ROOM 101« project: The long awaited double album work titled »Infinte Definitive«, which gives way to the full impact of old and new 101-Songs alike. By dusting down their old master-tapes of the »Fragment/Decay/Bringer« era and replacing and/or expanding previously released compositions, »Infinite Definite« will provide songs recorded after »Bringer« alongside fresh 2006 compositions for the first time in seven years of album-abstinence.

Also expected for this year is the second full-length album of Dalos' ambitious кожа project, called »Lebensborn.« Featuring artists from the past and new studio-guests alike, Dalos' web of sonic intrigue focusses this time on a far more filmic direction. The album's lyric theme does not put the nazi-established »Lebensborn« ideal into play, but merely takes the fashist idealism into current every day life, unravelling the parallels of that dark master-race idea laid down by gruesome Nazi philosophy and current achievements in genetic engineering on one hand, and sterile media-uniformed society on the other.

At the other end of the spectrum DATA FILE MUSIC is also a production & publishing company. On that level, brilliant singer/songwriter »Julius« and killer-rock heroes »MSHB« are producing their respective albums in our studios for their labels.
